Session 1. Making Contact + alphabet + numbers (21/01/11)

Hi,

This first session will serve as an introduction to the course. We will see the different ways of saying hello and goodbye in English, along with several expressions to introduce people.

You will have the chance of put all this into practice with your clasmates and be able to introduce yourself in a proper way. Remember: a good introduction is the best way of making a good impression on your clients!

We will also see some grammar: it will be a quick revision of the Present Simple in English, and we'll do some exercises just to make sure everyone knows how to use this tense correctly.

In the second part of the session, we will revise the English alphabet (I'm sure some of you still do not remember some letters!), and we will practice the spelling of some difficult names and surnames, by role-playing some dialogues with your partner.

Also, we will learn how to give our personal details in a correct way (address, phone number, age, job, etc.). We will also learn how to express prices in English, cardinal numbers, ordinal numbers, fractions, percentages and other useful expressions.

As for the grammar contents, you can finish the photocopies I gave you in class which refer to the Present Continuous. If you have problems you can ask me next Friday.
